My Personal Cryptocurrency Journey

As a current Cryptocurrency advocate, educator, blogger and enthusiast, you would think I always espoused and endorsed blockchain technology. You would be wrong, very wrong. I am a long-time stock investor, and initially scoffed at the Cryprocurrency Market. I did not buy Bitcoin when I had the opportunity to do so at $200 or Ethereum at $3. Here is my story.

My first introduction to cryptocurrency was through Coinbase. I had heard of Bitcoin and had a coworker who was a Bitcoin and Litecoin advocate. He described the technology, how he traded Bitcoin for Litecoin and how he had traded some Bitcoin to pay for a family vacation.

I changed my tune in June of 2017. Bitcoin fell to a low of $1,700, and I jumped in. I logged onto Coinbase and bought some Litecoin and Bitcoin. It was a rush to dust off the Coinbase app and use it.

I spent 2017 and 2018 investing in cloud mining, trading Bitcoin and altcoins, reading everything I could about cryprocurrency and blockchain technology and spreading the word. I joined Steemit in May of 2018 and have enjoyed it ever since. The bubble of 2018 was an amazing time, and the optimism in the media fueled the flames. The crash was disheartening, but I have not lost the faith.

My lessons learned from all this is to be an early adopter. I joined Steemit a year and a half after its launch, and consider myself an early adopter. I have since become a member of Scorum, Serey, Bearshares and Trybe. Some of these platforms may fall, but others may rise to greatness. It's worth it to take the risk.
